Parks and Recreation Department has smaller parks for younger children to play on playscapes, as well as the larger Sar-ko-par Trails Park on 58 acres. Sar-ko-par Trails has a two acre lake for fishing and skipping stones, an aquatic center park and pool with water slides, basketball and tennis courts, a half soccer field, baseball field, sand volleyball courts, picnic shelters and picnic areas. This is a park to visit for the day. Two other parks, Ad Astra and Flat Rock Creek, offer swimming pools for those hot summer days. A majority of the parks have walking and jogging trails, and Black Hoof and Cedar Station and Hidden Woods parks have lakes.
If you're more into the arts, the Lenexa Arts Council provides a great forum for you to create.. The council hosts various events throughout the year including an Artist's Show competition and a performance in the fall.
When you and your friends want to go shopping to outfit your Lenexa apartments or yourself for that matter, you have plentiful choices when it comes to places to shop. Oak Park Mall is the premier mall in the Kansas City area, located just east of Lenexa in Overland Park with anchor stores such as Dillard's, Macy's and Nordstrom.
